The first-run setup wizard

After signup Spiich runs a one-time wizard on desktop: it researches your company, connects your mail and calendar, sets up meeting recording, and drafts your personal profile.

Before you start

  • Signup is finished: a CRM is connected and your plan or trial is active.
  • A desktop or laptop browser at least 768 pixels wide.

The wizard runs once, and until it finishes every page in the app redirects back to it. That is deliberate: the answers it collects are what ground every agent afterwards, so a workspace that skips them gets vaguer answers for months.

What the wizard covers

StageWho sees itSkippable
Company researchAdmins onlyNo, but every card is editable
Email and calendarEveryoneYes
Meeting recordingEveryoneYes

Personal profileEveryoneNo, but you can fill it in by hand

Working through it as an admin

  1. Let the research run

You land on a screen headed "Let me look around your workspace." An agent reads your connected CRM and the public web for about a minute. An activity feed on the left shows what it is doing, with clickable source links, and findings appear one card at a time on the right.

  2. Correct the four cards

When the headline changes to "Here's what I found." you get Company Description, Value Proposition, Target Customer and Buyer Persona. Click any card to edit it inline, or type a correction into the box on the left, for example "We also target healthcare companies", and press Enter. The agent revises only what changed. Get these right: they are what every agent reasons from later. Click Looks good to save.

  3. Connect email and calendar

Pick Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 and approve the consent screen. You return with a checkmark and the wizard advances on its own. Both connections are read-only, and only one provider connects per person, so the other card dims. This is what unlocks meeting briefings and email drafting. Click Skip to do it later from Settings > Integrations.

  4. Set up meeting recording

Three options on one screen. Set up recorder expands the Spiich Recorder panel: pick Apple silicon, Intel Mac or Windows, download, install, then click Generate pairing code and type the code into the desktop app before the countdown runs out. Fathom connects by OAuth. Fireflies.ai connects by pasting an API key. Then Next, or Skip.

  5. Connect Slack

Connect Slack installs the Spiich app so your team can ask questions from Slack channels. Admin-only stage; members never see it. Skip is fine here, it changes nothing else. See connect Slack.

  6. Set up your personal profile

Click Let Spiich set up the profile and the agent drafts Job Title, Responsibilities, Professional Background, Communication Style, Meeting Brief Summary and Email Writing Style from what it can see. Or click Do it manually and type them yourself. Edit anything, then click Looks good.

A three-line closing animation plays for a few seconds, your account is marked as onboarded, and you land in Chat. No page redirects you back afterwards.

The shorter version a team member sees

Someone who joined from an invitation starts at Connect your email & calendar, then meeting recording, then their personal profile, then the closing animation. The company research stage and the Slack stage are admin-only, so a member simply never sees them. Everything else is identical.

If the recorder card reads Ask your admin and will not open, Recorder access has not been granted for that person yet. See recorder permissions.

What Spiich does with the answers

The four company cards are saved on the workspace and become the shared context every agent reasons from: chat answers, meeting briefings, background agent runs. Your personal fields shape how Spiich talks to you and how it writes. The email writing style is saved as a personal skill named Email writing style, which you can edit later under Settings > Skills.

Nothing here is permanent. Change your own fields any time at Settings > Agent Customization > User information. Admins change the company fields under Organization information on the same page. Fields save when you click away. See teach Spiich how you work.

Limits

  • The wizard needs a desktop browser at least 768 pixels wide. Narrower than that and it is skipped entirely, which leaves the workspace unconfigured until you come back on a computer.
  • Only one mail provider per person. Connecting Google dims Microsoft, and the other way round.
  • Recorder pairing codes expire ten minutes after you generate them. Click Regenerate pairing code if the countdown runs out.
  • The Windows recorder build is unsigned, so SmartScreen warns on first launch. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  • Company-level fields stay admin-only after setup. Members see them read-only.

If something goes wrong

  • A card sits on a dashed border saying "Add context here, or reply in chat..." The agent could not work that field out from your CRM or the web. Click into the card and type it, or answer in the chat box on the left.
  • The research notice says the agent is unavailable and cached data is being used. The research agent could not be reached, so the cards fall back to generic placeholders. Overwrite each one and click Looks good. You can fix anything later in Settings > Agent Customization.
  • The Company Description describes Spiich instead of your company. That is the fallback text when research fails for that card. Replace it with your own description.
  • The Email Writing Style card says no sent-email patterns were found. No mailbox is connected, or there are too few messages you sent for a style to be inferred. Connect your mailbox at the email step first, or type your own guidance into the card.
  • Fireflies connected but no transcripts arrive. The first connect backfills the last 30 days once, then Spiich polls on a schedule set by your Fireflies plan's own rate limit. Check Last synced and Next sync on the Fireflies.ai card. See bring in meetings from other tools.
  • Every page keeps redirecting to the wizard. It has not finished. Work through the remaining stages and let the closing animation play out; the account is only marked onboarded when that screen ends.

Frequently asked questions

Individual stages can be skipped with the Skip button, but the wizard as a whole cannot: on desktop every page redirects back to it until the closing animation finishes. The email, recording and Slack stages are all skippable and can be set up later from Settings > Integrations.
