HubSpot Prospecting Agent: What It Does, What It Costs and How to Set It Up
The HubSpot prospecting agent costs $1 per lead it writes outreach for. Professional includes 3,000 credits, enough for 30 leads; 200 leads cost $170 more.
What is the HubSpot prospecting agent?
The HubSpot prospecting agent is an AI agent in HubSpot that finds contacts at your target companies, watches for buying signals, researches each lead and writes personalized outreach. It can send the emails itself or queue them for a rep to review. It is available from the Starter plans up and costs $1 per lead it writes outreach for.
HubSpot dropped the Breeze name from the agent in 2026 and moved it into Agent Hub. Every price, plan gate and menu path below was checked on HubSpot's own pages on 12 October 2026: its prospecting agent guide, its product page and its product catalog.
What does the HubSpot prospecting agent do?
The prospecting agent works from plays: sets of instructions that say which companies to watch, which people to reach and how to write to them. It watches those companies for buying signals, suggests contacts, researches each one, drafts emails and follows up. Reps review the drafts, or let it send without review.
A play has five parts, set up in tabs:
- Audience. The company segments to monitor, the personas to reach and the intent signals to watch, such as page views or a research keyword. You set a daily limit on new contact suggestions.
- Selling context. What you sell, your value proposition and the pain points you solve. The agent can read these from your website URL.
- Outreach. Either the agent decides the steps, within a maximum number of emails and a minimum gap between them, or you configure a sequence yourself.
- Guardrails. Tone or brand voice, the sender (the contact owner or a single user), the sending window and, with Adaptive outreach, the language and the call to action (a meeting link, a document or a link).
- Automation. Review each email before sending, or send automatically.
HubSpot's guide says the agent weighs engagements from up to the past year, such as form submissions, page views, calls, meetings, notes and email opens. It can also pull new contacts from one external data source at a time: Apollo, Surfe, ZoomInfo or Seamless.
Which HubSpot plans include the prospecting agent?
The prospecting agent is available on Starter, Professional and Enterprise editions of HubSpot, including Sales Hub. Each plan includes a monthly pool of HubSpot Credits that the agent draws on: 500 on Starter, 3,000 on Professional and 5,000 on Enterprise. Only users with paid seats can spend credits.
| Sales Hub plan | Price per seat a month | Credits a month | Prospecting agent leads covered |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | None | 0 |
| Starter | $20 | 500 | 5 |
| Professional | $90, plus $1,500 onboarding once | 3,000 | 30 |
| Enterprise | $150, plus $3,500 onboarding once | 5,000 | 50 |
Plan gates come from HubSpot's product page and credits from its product catalog, both checked 12 October 2026. Prices are US list prices on annual billing from the Sales Hub pricing page. Credits belong to the account, not the seat, and don't add up across hubs: an account gets the highest pool it qualifies for.
Guides that say the agent needs Professional or Enterprise follow HubSpot's April 2026 announcement; HubSpot's guide and product page now list Starter.
How much does the HubSpot prospecting agent cost?
The prospecting agent uses 100 HubSpot Credits, $1, for each lead it generates personalized outreach for, whether the agent recommended the lead or a rep enrolled it. Credits beyond the plan's monthly pool cost $0.01 each, bought in packs of 1,000 or billed as overages. A Professional account working 200 leads a month pays $170 on top of its seats.
| Leads a month | Starter (500 included) | Professional (3,000 included) | Enterprise (5,000 included) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100 | $95 | $70 | $50 |
| 200 | $195 | $170 | $150 |
| 500 | $495 | $470 | $450 |
| 1,000 | $995 | $970 | $950 |
Monthly credit cost beyond the included pool, at 100 credits per lead and $0.01 a credit from HubSpot's catalog, checked 12 October 2026. It assumes pay-as-you-go overages are on; with packs, the cost rounds up to the next $10. It also assumes no other feature uses the included credits; the data agent and workflow AI actions draw on the same pool. Unused credits don't roll over.
HubSpot's guide counts hand-enrolled leads too, so 10 recommended and 3 enrolled by hand cost 13 leads' worth of credits. Since 14 April 2026, HubSpot charges per lead instead of a "recurring monthly charge for every contact enrolled", according to its pricing announcement.
To buy more, add capacity packs of 1,000 credits for $10 a month, priced in HubSpot's catalog. Without packs, credit features pause when the pool runs out. Once an account holds packs, it moves up to a larger pack by default when usage passes them, and an admin can switch to pay-as-you-go overages instead, according to HubSpot's credits guide.
Is there a free trial of the prospecting agent?
Yes. HubSpot offers 14 days of free access when you set up the prospecting agent for the first time, and the agent uses no credits during it. The trial starts when you publish your first play. It needs a Professional or Enterprise subscription with an assigned seat and an account opted in to the "Prospecting Agent Gets Smarter: Buying Signals and Contact Sourcing" beta, so Starter accounts pay from the first lead.
The conditions are in HubSpot's free access guide, updated 26 June 2026. HubSpot's April announcement mentioned a 28-day trial, which some guides still repeat. After the trial, an admin turns credit use back on under Account & Billing, then Usage & Limits.
How do you set up the HubSpot prospecting agent?
An admin turns on HubSpot's AI data settings, then opens Sales, then Prospecting Agent, and builds a play: audience, context, outreach, guardrails and automation. Test it on one contact, publish it, and connect the inboxes it sends from. Start with email review on.
- Check access. Give the people who set it up the Prospecting agent admin permission, and reps who enroll leads the Prospecting agent assignment permission.
- Turn on the AI data. In the AI settings, switch on generative AI, CRM data, customer conversation data and files data.
- Open the agent. Go to Sales, then Prospecting Agent.
- Build a play. Fill in the Audience, Selling context, Outreach and Guardrails tabs, and set a low daily limit on new contact suggestions.
- Choose review. On the Automation tab, pick Review before sending. Set the sender on the Guardrails tab and make sure the sender's inbox is connected to HubSpot.
- Test and publish. Generate sample outreach for one contact, then click Review and turn on, then Publish.
- Review drafts daily. The agent sends a daily digest at 9 AM in the account's time zone, and drafts wait on the Ready for review tab.
Steps follow HubSpot's prospecting agent guide and its permissions guide, checked 12 October 2026. Agent actions that use credits don't run in sandbox accounts, so test in production on a small segment.
What results have teams reported?
HubSpot's case studies report the clearest numbers. RevenueWell, a dental software company, raised its meeting booking rate on marketing-qualified leads from 8% to 20% after replacing its follow-up sequences with prospecting agent plays. Pingman Tools turned review off for outreach to trial users and reports a 52% engagement rate and a 150-seat deal from an account no rep prospected. Both are customer-reported figures published by HubSpot.
What can't the HubSpot prospecting agent do?
The prospecting agent works from HubSpot data and one connected data provider. It looks back one year, charges for every lead it writes to, including leads a rep enrolled, stops when credits run out unless you buy more, and can't use credits in a sandbox. Emails sent without review go out in your reps' names.
- It only sees HubSpot. Calls, notes and emails count only if they are logged in HubSpot.
- It stops at the credit limit. When included credits run out and the account holds no capacity packs, usage-based features pause until the next monthly reset (HubSpot).
- Editing a play doesn't change running outreach. Edits apply to contacts enrolled after the change (HubSpot).
- Autonomous sending is a brand decision. Without review, nobody reads an email before it goes out in a rep's name.
Frequently asked questions
How do you know if the prospecting agent is working?
Run one play for a month on a single segment, with email review on. Count the meetings its leads booked and divide the month's credit spend by that number. If a meeting costs more than a rep's time to book one by hand, narrow the audience or rewrite the context before you add volume.
Read 20 drafts in the first week. If a rep would rewrite more than a few lines of each, fix the play's context and pain points first; more signals won't fix weak copy.
