What are the best AI sales statistics for 2026?

The best AI sales statistics for 2026 come from recent surveys that name who was asked and when. Gartner found AI saves sellers 4.8 hours a week, but 72% of sales teams put little of that time back into selling (Gartner). McKinsey found only 7% of companies using AI in marketing and sales see revenue gains above 10% (McKinsey).

Buyers use AI too, and most still want a person to check it. Every number here links to its source, with the sample and the date.

Before the list, test yourself on ten that circulate widely. A number holds up when four things are true. The original source opens, and it says who was measured and when. It measured something rather than predicting it, and it's quoted the way the source wrote it. Five of the ten pass. It's the same idea as our fact check of the most-quoted B2B sales statistics.

Which AI sales statistics hold up in 2026?

Fifteen AI sales statistics hold up when traced. They come from Gartner, McKinsey, Forrester, G2, Gong, LinkedIn and The Bridge Group, and each states its sample and date. Most are surveys of sales leaders, sellers or buyers. None is a randomized study of B2B sellers, so read the revenue numbers as patterns.

Thirteen of the fifteen are surveys, where people report what they see. Gong's revenue figure is observed data, and the last row is a forecast.

How many sales teams use AI in 2026?

Nearly all of them. Gong found 87% of US revenue organizations use AI (Gong), and LinkedIn found 56% of B2B sales professionals use it every day (LinkedIn). Letting AI sell on its own is still rare: in The Bridge Group's 2025 survey, 1% of companies reported AI sales development reps (SDRs), the first year that category appeared (The Bridge Group).

Gong surveyed 3,048 revenue leaders in the US, UK, Australia and Germany for its State of Revenue AI 2026 report. LinkedIn's figure comes from 1,250 sales professionals at companies with 200 or more employees, surveyed by Ipsos (LinkedIn, March 2025). The Bridge Group surveyed 351 B2B companies, most of them North American software companies (The Bridge Group, February 2025).

Most teams use AI on their own work and keep people on the outreach. For the research on why, read do AI SDRs work?

How much time does AI save salespeople?

About 4.8 hours a week per seller, in a 2026 Gartner survey of 210 sales leaders. Most teams don't spend that time on selling. In the same survey, 72% of sales organizations said they put little of the time saved back into high-value sales work (Gartner).

Gartner surveyed chief sales officers (CSOs) and senior sales leaders in January and February 2026 (Gartner, May 2026). Teams that saved a moderate to large amount of time and put it back into selling were 2.2 times more likely to beat their customer growth goals. They were 3.1 times more likely to beat their lead-to-opportunity conversion goals.

The same survey found 25% of sales organizations report a return on AI of 50% or more, and 20% report a loss of 50% or more. Gartner's explanation is that the value depends less on access to the technology than on how teams redesign the work around it.

Does AI increase sales revenue?

For some teams, and by less than the adoption numbers suggest. McKinsey's 2026 survey found 37% of companies using AI in marketing and sales report revenue gains from it, and only 7% report gains above 10% (McKinsey). Marketing and sales still led every other business function on revenue gains from AI.

McKinsey surveyed 1,719 people from May 4 to June 8, 2026, and asked about revenue only those whose companies use AI in the function (McKinsey, August 2026). The 37% splits into 21% reporting gains of 5% or less, 9% reporting 6 to 10%, and 7% reporting more than 10%.

The bigger multiples compare AI users with non-users. Gong analyzed 7.1 million opportunities at 3,613 companies and found sellers who use AI frequently bring in 77% more revenue than sellers who don't use it at all (Gong, December 2025). Gartner found sellers who partner well with AI are 3.7 times more likely to meet quota, from a survey of 1,026 B2B sellers in early 2024 (Gartner, September 2024). Neither shows that AI caused the gap, since strong sellers may adopt new tools first.

How do B2B buyers use AI when they buy?

Almost all of them use it, and most still want a person to check it. Forrester found 94% of business buyers use AI during a purchase (Forrester). Gartner found 69% of B2B buyers prefer to validate what AI tells them with a sales rep, and buyers rate reps well above AI on understanding their needs (Gartner).

Forrester's figure comes from its Buyers' Journey Survey 2025, and it rose five points in a year (Forrester, January 2026). Half of B2B software buyers, 51%, now start their research with an AI chatbot more often than with Google, up from 29% in G2's 2025 report (G2, April 2026). Forrester also found 19% of buyers using generative AI feel less confident in their decisions because of inaccurate answers (Forrester, October 2025).

Gartner asked 645 B2B buyers in August and September 2025 to compare reps with generative AI (Gartner, May 2026). They were 39 percentage points more likely to say a rep understood their needs, and 32 points more likely to say a rep made them confident in the purchase (Gartner, May 2026).

What do analysts predict for AI in sales?

Gartner predicts AI agents will outnumber sellers 10 to 1 by 2028, while fewer than 40% of sellers will say the agents improved their productivity (Gartner). It also predicts that by 2027, 95% of sellers' research will start with AI, up from less than 20% in 2024 (Gartner).

Both are predictions, not measurements (Gartner, July 2026; Gartner, May 2026). Quote a forecast with the year it was made and the year it's for.

Which AI sales statistics don't hold up?

Five widely quoted AI sales statistics fail when traced to their source. One is a 2016 claim of 50% more leads, and one is a 2023 estimate of two hours saved a day. Two are Gartner forecasts quoted as results. The last is a LinkedIn finding that its own press release turned around.

How should a sales leader use these numbers?

Decide where the saved hours go before you roll out the tool. In Gartner's survey, the teams that put saved time back into selling were the ones beating their growth goals. Buyers point the same way: most still check what AI tells them with a person.

Measure two things for each rep, before and after: hours a week spent on admin, and customer conversations held. If admin hours fall and conversations don't rise, the time went somewhere else. For teams that measured one job before and after, see the best AI use cases for sales.
