# Record pages

> Clicking a row opens the record in place: its card, cards for the organization, people and deals around it, a Tasks, Meetings, Emails and Notes panel, and a chat that already knows the record.

## Before you start

- A CRM is connected and you have at least one table with rows in it.

Clicking a row in a table opens the record in place rather than sending you somewhere else. The back arrow returns you to the table with your filters and search intact, and `j` and `k` (or the down and up arrow keys) step to the next and previous record without going back at all. The keys are ignored while you are typing in a text field, and the chevrons at the top right of the header do the same thing.

## What is on a record page

### The header
The record's title and subtitle, an **Open in CRM** link, quick-action pills, a **Run agent** menu, and the chevrons for stepping between records. Reaching the end of the loaded rows fetches more and then advances.

### The cards
The record's own card, plus a card for each kind of record around it: the organization, the related people, the related deals. Long lists collapse behind **+N more** and expand again with **Show less**. Every card is drawn from a saved layout for that object type, which you can change.

### The chat
A message box at the bottom of the record pane, already loaded with the record, its notes, its related people and its activity.

## The activity panel

A tabbed panel beside the cards, with **Tasks**, **Meetings**, **Emails** and **Notes**. Each tab carries a count once it is known, and the arrow keys move between tabs.

It does not only show things attached directly to the record. It resolves everything around it, so a deal shows meetings and emails from its organization, its related people and its sibling deals too.

- **Tasks** lists the record's task cards.
- **Meetings** and **Emails** load eight at a time behind a **Show more** button.
- **Notes** shows the most recent notes gathered from the record and its surroundings, each tagged with where it came from, up to twenty.

The panel follows the height of the card stack and scrolls inside itself rather than lengthening the page, so the cards stay put while you read down a list.

## Ask about this record

The chat on a record page is scoped to that record, so you never have to re-explain who you are talking about. Ask a question, ask for a summary, or ask for a CRM write. `Cmd+Enter` sends, and you can attach files per record.

_Ask on a record page:_
```
What has changed on this deal since our last meeting, and what is the single most useful thing I could do today?
```

Two other things run from the header and stream their results into the same chat:

- **Quick actions.** The pills in the header fire a saved one-click prompt at the open record. They are set up in [`Settings > Quick Actions`](https://app.spiich.ai/settings/quick-actions).
- **Run agent.** Runs one of your on-demand [background agents](/help/background-agents/background-agents-overview) against the record. While a run is in flight the header reads `{agent} running…`, and a second run on the same record is blocked until the first finishes.

## Customize what a card shows

Cards are per object type, not per record. Change the Deal card and every deal in the workspace uses the new layout.

1. **Open Card Customization**
Go to [`Settings > Card Customization`](https://app.spiich.ai/settings/entity-views). You can also get there in context from a record page with the **Card setup** button.

2. **Read the line under the title**
It tells you which layout you are editing. As an admin you are setting the workspace default for everyone. As a member you are editing a personal layout that overrides the default only for you.

3. **Pick a card and rearrange it**
Choose the Person, Organization, Deal, Task or custom-object card. Drag a field to reorder it, or drop one into the card header to make it the title or subtitle. The add-field control adds a synced CRM field, an AI Summary, or a call, email or copy button.

4. **Preview it against a real record**
Click the magnifier, search for a record and select it to see the card with real data. **Preview cards** and **Edit cards** flip the whole page between the two modes.

5. **Save**
A bar appears at the bottom naming which cards are unsaved. Click **Save changes**, or **Discard**. As a member, **Use workspace default** removes your personal layout and puts you back on the workspace card.

> **Tip:** If you do not want to lay cards out by hand, click **Let Spiich set up all cards**. A setup agent reads your CRM fields and how often each one is actually filled in, then proposes a layout. You review each proposal on the card itself with real data, see what changed and what was dropped, and keep it, undo it, or retry with a different instruction. Nothing is saved until you click Save changes.

## Limits

- One AI Summary is allowed per card, and one per table.
- Prompt columns belong to the table they were created on. They are never offered on cards.
- There are two levels of card layout and no more: the workspace default set by an admin, and a personal override each member can save for themselves. There is no per-team layout.
- Records cannot be deleted from a record page. Deletions reach Spiich through the [CRM sync](/help/your-data/crm-sync-rules).
- A field can only appear on a card if your CRM syncs it and it is switched on in [`Settings > Object Types`](https://app.spiich.ai/settings/entity-types).
- Only one background agent can run on a record at a time.

## If something goes wrong

**A card reads "Nothing on this card yet" or "No fields configured".** No layout has been saved for that object type. Click the setup prompt on the card, or go to `Settings > Card Customization` and either drag fields in yourself or use **Let Spiich set up all cards**.

**A field you expect is missing from a card.** Go to `Settings > Object Types`, confirm the object is Visible, expand it and confirm the field's Visible switch is on. If the panel says no attributes have synced for that object type yet, its first import has not finished.

**An action button is greyed out and reads "Unsupported link".** The template resolves to something other than a `tel:`, `sms:`, `mailto:` or `https:` link, or the field it points at is empty on that record. Edit the action and check its template against the preview.

**A quick action or agent run does nothing visible.** The result streams into the record's chat, not into a separate panel. Scroll the chat at the bottom of the record pane.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does customizing a card change it for my whole team?

It depends who you are. A workspace admin editing `Settings > Card Customization` sets the default every member sees. Anyone else saves a personal layout that overrides the default only for them, and **Use workspace default** puts them back.

### Why does the Meetings tab show meetings that are not on this record?

The activity panel deliberately resolves everything around the record, not just what is attached to it. On a deal that means meetings and emails from its organization, its related people and its sibling deals, so you see the whole account rather than one thread.

### Can I edit a record from its page?

Yes. Edits made on a record are pushed to your connected CRM in the same action, and if the CRM rejects the write Spiich rolls its own change back. See [How Spiich and your CRM stay in sync](/help/your-data/crm-sync-rules).

### How do I get from a record back to my CRM?

Every record card carries an **Open in CRM** link that goes straight to the matching record in Attio, HubSpot or Pipedrive. The same link appears on record mentions in Chat and on background-agent results.
