# Which Spiich app to use

> Spiich runs in four places: the web app, a Chrome side panel, a desktop recorder and a mobile app. They share one account and one workspace, and each one is best at a different job.

Everything starts in the web app at `app.spiich.ai`. The other three clients exist because some work is easier from a browser side panel, from your desktop, or from your phone. You do not choose one. Most reps end up with the web app plus one or two of the others.

## The four clients

| Client | Best for | Only it can do | Runs on |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Web app at `app.spiich.ai` | Everything: Chat, My Day, Tables, Background Agents and Settings | Background Agents, Tables, all of Settings, and downloading and pairing the other clients | Any modern desktop browser |
| Chrome extension | Working beside a page: a prospect's LinkedIn profile, a company site, a CRM record | Read the page you are on and recognize the CRM record you are viewing | Chrome 116 or newer, and other Chromium browsers with a side panel |
| Spiich Recorder (desktop) | Recording calls | Record a meeting, and start an ad hoc recording of a phone or in-person call | macOS on Apple silicon or Intel, and Windows 10 and 11 on x64 |
| Mobile app | Voice between meetings and checking your day | Photograph a business card or a whiteboard so Spiich can act on it | iPhone, iPad and Android |

## One account, one workspace

Every client signs in with the same Spiich credentials, and every client sees the same records, chats, meetings and briefings. Sign in once in the web app and the rest is quick:

- The **Chrome extension** can adopt your session from an open Spiich tab in the same browser, so you rarely type a password twice. See [The Chrome extension](/help/apps/chrome-extension).
- The **mobile app** takes your email and password or **Continue with Google**, and asks for your verification code if two-factor authentication is on.
- The **desktop recorder** is not signed in with a password at all. You pair the computer with a six-digit code from [`Settings > Meeting Agent`](https://app.spiich.ai/settings/notetaker), and every paired machine is listed under **Connected devices** where you can revoke it. See [Install the meeting recorder](/help/meetings/install-the-meeting-recorder).

## Pick by the job in front of you

- Debriefing a call from the car, or adding a contact from a business card: **mobile app**.
- Asking about the page you are reading, or the CRM record open in your other tab: **Chrome extension**.
- Recording and transcribing a call, on any platform: **desktop recorder**. Nothing else records.
- Building a table, setting up a background agent, inviting a teammate, changing anything in Settings: **web app**.
- Reading the brief before a call: web app, recorder or mobile, whichever is nearest.

> **Tip:** In the web app press `Cmd+K` (macOS) or `Ctrl+K` (Windows) to open the command palette. It jumps to any page or setting and carries actions such as **New chat**, **Get the browser extension**, **Invite a teammate** and the light and dark theme switches.

## What each one cannot do

- Only the desktop recorder records meetings. The web app, the extension and the mobile app can capture a short voice note for transcription, but none of them records a call.
- The extension needs Chrome 116 or newer, because it uses Chrome's side panel. There is no Firefox or Safari build.
- The recorder has no Linux build, and Windows builds are unsigned, so Windows warns you on first launch.
- Using the recorder needs a Meeting Recorder license on your user. An admin grants it from [`Settings > User Management`](https://app.spiich.ai/settings/user-management); on a contract, your account manager manages it.
- The mobile app has no settings screen and no sign-out button. Administration happens in the web app.
- First-run onboarding does not run on screens narrower than 768 pixels, so set your workspace up on a computer before you rely on the phone.

## Check what you are already using

Open [`Settings > Insights`](https://app.spiich.ai/settings/insights) and look at the **Connected surfaces** row. Background Agents, Chat, Recorder, Meeting Briefs, Extension, Mobile and Desktop are each marked **In use** or **Not in use**, and anything you have not installed links straight to where you get it.

## If something goes wrong

- **The extension keeps showing the login screen.** It only adopts a session from a Spiich tab it recognizes, and it gives up on a tab Chrome has put to sleep. Click **Open spiich.ai** on the login screen, sign in there, then go back to the panel.
- **"Generate pairing code" says a Meeting recorder license is required.** Your user does not have one. An admin on a self-serve plan can grant themselves one from `Settings > Meeting Agent`; otherwise ask an admin to grant it from `Settings > User Management`. The in-app message points at "Settings > Team"; the page is called User Management.
- **"My Day is not available" on your phone.** Your Google account is not connected, or meeting briefings are off for your user. Fix both in the web app, then reopen My Day. See [My Day](/help/meetings/my-day).

## Frequently asked questions

### Which client should I set up first?

The web app. It is where you connect your CRM, mail and calendar, and where you download and pair everything else. Once the web app is set up, the extension and the mobile app take about a minute each.

### Can I pair the desktop recorder to more than one computer?

Yes. Generate a pairing code for each machine from `Settings > Meeting Agent`. Every paired computer appears under **Connected devices** with the date it was last used, and you can revoke any of them, which signs that copy of the recorder out immediately.

### Is there a Spiich app for Linux, Firefox or Safari?

No. The recorder ships for macOS and Windows, and the extension is built on the Chrome side panel, so it needs Chrome 116 or newer or another Chromium browser. On Linux, Firefox or Safari, use the web app at app.spiich.ai.

### Do I have to install anything to use Spiich at all?

No. The web app is the full product and runs in the browser. The extension, the recorder and the mobile app add page context, call recording and voice on the move, but none of them is required.
